Endowment for the Future
What is an endowment fund?
A financial endowment is a fund consisting of donations of money or property to a nonprofit organization for the ongoing support of that organization. Usually the endowment is structured so that the principal amount is kept intact. Meanwhile the investment income (interest gained) is available for use, or part of the principal is released each year, which allows for the fund to have an impact over a longer period of time.
At CHI St. Francis Health Foundation, the Endowment for the Future fund does exactly this. And as this endowment fund grows, so do our usable funds! We are able to use proceeds gained from the interest of this permanently restricted fund to help improve our health care services here at St. Francis.
